About Jordan:
"My newest body of work depicts subject matter comprised of seemingly random and increasingly chaotic mark making. The notion of organized chaos has proven to be a constant objective in my creative process. In contrast to the meticulous way in which I tended to portray subject matter at a younger age, I am currently getting looser with my color, shape and line. In order to focus on the essence of an object, I must visual deconstruct it. Then I build pattern and shape until I achieve a mood and complexity that is both visually interesting and that properly portrays the subject’s reconstructed identity. Primarily working in oil paints, I apply my media very expressively with bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors to project the essence and energy of the subject matter.

I am constantly mindful of the beauty, truth, and spirit that exist in everything around. In nature, seemingly simple objects may be examined closer to reveal a complex and chaotic beauty. This often leads me to look to natural stimuli for inspiration. My brushstrokes are reminiscent of the Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Monet, and Van Gogh. This method of media application adds a strong sense of movement to my work. Artists like Klimt, Gauguin, and Mark English influence my use of exaggerated color. More so, both my brushstrokes and color usage are directly correlated to my current mood, as well as the mood I’m trying to project in each piece. Like my own mood state, many finished pieces have a light-hearted appearance, but they often hide a dark or somber undertone. I intend to continue to move closer towards the dichotomous line between representational and abstract art, while exploring how my experience of an object relates to my creative process."
